The shop gave it a translation in brackets, which is the most useful thing any bakery can do with a name people might not know: bicho-bicho, twisted donut, rolled in sugar.
Then it added the only other thing worth saying about it. Bicho, for snack. Fresh from the oven.
You can see why the brackets were needed and why the sentence after them wasn't. It is a length of dough twisted on itself and taken through sugar while it is still warm enough for the sugar to stick. There is no filling, no frosting, nothing purple. It is the plainest thing in the case and it is gone quickly.

As usual, the caption carried the practical part underneath: Unit 101-3 Fan Tan Alley, Victoria BC, along Pandora Avenue. Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 7 PM. Sunday and Monday closed. And the phone number, 587.439.1788.
If you want one warm, that last line is the one that matters. Trays come out through the day rather than all at once in the morning.
